Lead Software Engineer - Chanced

Role Overview: We are looking for a seasoned Lead Software Engineer who excels in both technical innovation and leadership. In this role, you’ll optimize our platform for scalability, guide senior engineers, and introduce cutting-edge technologies to keep our systems at the forefront of the industry. You will also balance high feature velocity while addressing technical debt, ensuring the platform's growth without sacrificing stability. The ideal candidate is comfortable in a rapidly scaling startup environment, wearing many hats, and juggling multiple tasks as needed. Key Responsibilities: Platform Optimization & Scaling: Scale our existing Laravel-based application to support tens of thousands of concurrent users in a fast-paced environment. API Development: Enhance the performance and scalability of our REST APIs for seamless integration with payment systems and other external services. Architectural Leadership: Spearhead the transition from monolithic to microservices architecture, ensuring systems are scalable and maintainable. Technical Guidance: Provide mentorship and guidance to senior software engineers, helping them grow and stay aligned with industry best practices. New Technologies: Continuously evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance our platform’s efficiency, scalability, and security. Feature Velocity & Technical Debt: Ensure rapid feature development while identifying and fixing technical debt where it arises, maintaining system integrity during high traffic periods. DevOps & CI/CD: Advance our CI/CD pipeline for faster, more reliable deployments, ensuring seamless code integration and delivery. Qualifications & Experience: Proven Experience: 10 years of experience in full-stack development, with a strong focus on scaling high-traffic applications. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of PHP, Laravel (including Laravel Nova), Vue.js, and PostgreSQL. Architectural Insight: Hands-on experience with both monolithic and microservices architectures, with the ability to lead transitions between them. Cloud Expertise: Solid understanding of AWS services and cloud architecture for enhancing platform scalability and reliability. DevOps Proficiency: Strong experience with CI/CD practices, DevOps tools, and version control (Git) to ensure seamless deployments and code management. Leadership Skills: Proven track record in providing guidance to senior engineers, helping them solve complex problems while advancing their skill sets. Nice to Have: Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and mentor development teams, particularly through complex scaling and architectural challenges. Mathematics & Data Science: Strong foundation in mathematics, probability, statistics, and data science principles, with the ability to apply them to gaming environments.
